I have had this blog for quite some time and have not utilized it at all. I have commented on sites like digg where I have made a great number of friends that I have a lot in common with and then there are others that want nothing but partisan bickering no matter what the issue. This is true from all sides so no blame is being assessed when I make that "partisan" statement. I myself can also be caught up and if you pull sentences from my writings I am sure you could make me look like a partisan as well. So what is your point you ask. There is none at the moment.
I just thought I would open this new blog up with a deed that is going to happen tonight in my area that I am apart of with the mens small group from church. We have decided to make actions not words a part of our daily routine. We have chosen a fire house near us to take meals, deserts and letters of thank you or encouragement to each of the 20 men serving in our area. No strings attached, no preaching, no witnessing just here it is guys and thank you with love. I am posting one of the two letters I wrote as it contains both as you will understand when you read it. I hope I did not disappoint and I pray it was good enough. I would love to hear what anyone has to say about it when and if anyone finds this blog. Enjoy and I hope to have more to come.

To the captain of the Fire Unit:
I thought I would write a letter that was different than the first but thought that everything pertaining to the rescue fire fighter also pertains to you as well. You also worked your way up through the ranks to get where you are and now you have not just your life on the line but those that you train to protect and serve others as well. In some respects you have a greater burden on you that others may not realize and this should not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do for us as a community and for all that you do to protect and guide your unit safely. You make a difference in everyone’s lives even if they do not realize it. My family and I are thankful for you. Below is a letter I wrote to one of your hard working dedicated rescue fire fighters and everything written also describes you as well. Thanks again for allowing our little group to share in our little way the love back to you and your unit they way your unit unabashedly shows its love to our community.
To the Rescue Fire Fighter:
This is a letter of appreciation that is richly deserved by you. Some would say all who serve deserve this appreciation and I would agree to an extent, however this letter of appreciation goes to you the one that puts his life on the line every day for others which I believe has a much higher calling in the service industry. We as a society compare you and your unit to our fighting men and women in the military who keep this country safe from all enemies both foreign and domestic and I say that you do the same in a matter of selfless love of others and pride of the unit.
See without you standing in the gap where you are today with your unit, our country is less safe, our neighbors are less safe, our children and elderly are less safe. You are the first responder to most anything that goes wrong around our area, no matter if it is an auto accident, slip and fall at the shopping center, condo fire, house fire or raging fire in the middle of the 10 story building on Carolina Beach. See, what we understand about you is that while others run away from danger you are racing toward and into danger not because you think it is cool, but because there may be a life that needs to be saved and that you value every life. I would love to break into scripture right about here but that’s not what this letter was about, (although you do realize giving your life for another or saving another’s life while admirable still does not reserve the seat up top that requires a commitment) that’s all I am saying….LOL but to me I think it should win you some pretty good cool points when you do get there.
You are an awesome person just for doing what you do for a living. Please tell your family thank you for sharing you with our community and allowing you to be the person you were called to be. Thank them for allowing you to stand in the gap where others would not even walk. Thank you for allowing us to love you back in our own weird little way that I hope can only make a little difference in your life today and the days to come.
Sincerely,
